Untying the Coquette Bow Trend by Pieces & Peaches:

What is the Coquette Bow Aesthetic and why are bows so big this season? Good question but we love them! Have you seen our Bow wall?

You can blame Barbie, TikTok, Bridgerton and designers like LoveShackFancy, just to name a few. They have popularized girlish feminine looks and the trend is big. The fashion aesthetic reaches far beyond just a bow, however. It’s a trend in fashion that has married vintage inspiration with a fun and modern take on femininity. It’s an overflow of pinks, prints, ruffles and lace that speaks not just to romantics but all girls and women who want to feel beautiful, classic and confident in their own skin. Even the shabby chic style has seen a resurgence under this fashion genre. Vintage floral patterns with pale colors, combined with dainty elements and French country side influences are everywhere from lace and eyelet dresses and skirts to hair bows, sheer tights, baby tees and floral embroidered sweatshirts. Remember Laura Ashley??? These looks, all tied up in a pretty little bow create a look that is timeless, Parisian, elegant and clean.
So why this style and look now? Stylists explain that the fashion industry was ready for an adjustment, an about-face. Trends have been harsh the last few years. Runways were seeing clothing styled by dark, angled, and often genderless features and it was time for a drastic change.
It’s called the ‘20 year rule’ in fashion. It means that fashion follows cycles that repeat every 20 years. We go from 'love it' to 'hate it' to 'meh', only to end right back at 'love it’ again! An essential element of this rule is the feeling of nostalgia that these trends stir.
LoveShackFancy creator, Rebecca Hessel Cohen, explains it best, “I grew up in a house filled with vintage.” From the furniture to the clothes, Rebecca’s childhood was swaddled in pieces that had a story. The little girl who grew up playing in Victorian dresses went on to study English literature in college and is now the founder of the
$70-million a year fashion conglomerate. She explains, “LoveShackFancy has become this adjective…It isn’t just a clothing brand; it’s a lifestyle that invites people in to see what life could be like if they gave in to the romance of it all.”
Thankfully this latest trend has come full circle and we have evolved from the 1980’s Laura Ashley full length dress to something that is lighter and far more flattering in cut with a touch of romance. Our Coquette Inspired Collection has styles geared toward every age, body type and lifestyle to keep you feeling feminine and strong in your own skin.
